Huawei to US: Some day soon you'll be begging to buy our gear
Huawei believes the strength of its technology means it will inevitably win access to the US market.
Speaking at AsiaD on Friday, John Roese, general manager of Huawei’s North American operations, said none of the concerns about Huawei’s alleged PLA or Chinese government links “are legitimate”.
Reports the Asia Wall Street Journal:
“You can prevent or avoid certain companies until the technology they develop is so far superior to what you have at your disposal currently that” continuing to avoid those companies becomes “a competitive disadvantage.”
The executive said Huawei [was] “almost at that point. We are clearly able to out-innovate our competitors,” he said.
Problem is, in an industry that competes on standards, the sheer value of of major league innovation is questionable. A big breakthrough might be worth six months - not enough to tear down the wall of suspicion.
Good luck to Huawei, though. If the company does have serious PLA links, the Americans should show their cards.
